The Patient Transfer Service co-ordinates and provides
inter-hospital transfer of patients by air ambulance to and from Christchurch
and other centres through out New Zealand and from Chatham Islands. The
Patient Transfer Service currently transfers approximately 350 patients per
year.
The transfer team consists of staff experienced in aeromedical transfers and may involve both a doctor and nurse, or nurse only with additional input from paediatric or obstetric services as required. The Intensive Care Specialist on for the day oversees all transfers. For Neonatal transfers a neonatal team is available from Christchurch Women hospital.
Garden City Helicopters / New Zealand Flying Doctor Service
in Christchurch provides two pressurised fixed wing aircraft’s (Cessna
Conquest 441 and Cessna Golden Eagle 421 pictured above left) and the
Westpac (BK117 pictured above right) helicopter.
The air ambulance service is available 24 hours a day; seven days a week (Mobile 027 – 290 0970).
Our office is based on the first floor near the Intensive Care Unit.
