Domperidone
- Upper GI prokinetic – low side effect profile - no significant central effects, for example it is safe to use in patients with Parkinson’s Disease.
- 10 - 20 mg QID PO A/C (maximum dose 80 mg/24 hours).
- Worth trying if patient is intolerant to metoclopramide – NOT to be used in conjunction.
- No parenteral or rectal preparation.
Note: Domperidone tablets incur a part charge at community pharmacies but if used in “terminal care” a special authority number can be applied for. Forms available from your pharmacist or see pharmac website:
