Community/Team Care Midwives

Burwood Birthing Unit and Rangiora Hospital can offer you a named midwife for every step of the way.

You can self refer or be referred to these Midwives by your General Practitioner or Specialist Obstetrician.

With a Community/Team Care Midwife you have the peace of mind that should any complications arise at any stage during your pregnancy, labour and birth or postnatal period, your midwife is with you all the way.

All care provided by these Midwives is free to New Zealand citizens.

What we do for You and Your Baby

You can call the Community or Team Cares Midwives directly or be referred to us by your GP, Specialist Obstetrician or Independent Midwife. A Community Midwife will then visit you at your home. She'll get to know you, your partner and your support person(s), discuss the many birthing options available to you and help you devise your own personalised care plan.

If you choose a Burwood Birthing Unit or Rangiora Hospital Community Midwife for your care she will become your lead maternity carer and be with you right throughout your pregnancy and after the birth of your baby.

Birthing

We are able to provide you with a variety of options and facilities for your birth. Your Community Midwife will happily discuss these with you.

Our desire is to provide you with the safest, most satisfying experience during one of life's most intimate and rewarding events. We never forget it is YOUR journey, and we value being a part of it.
