General Information About Us SERVICES WE OFFER
Under the care of your Midwife, you have the option of either giving birth at the Burwood Birthing Unit or at Christchurch Women's Hospital:
We welcome you and your family to come and have a look around the unit prior to making any decisions. Any questions or information relating to pregnancy, birth or postnatal care, the staff are always happy to answer To organise a tour or for further information, please phone (03) 383 6844 and speak to a member of staff.
STAFF There is a registered midwife available at all times to help you with your baby. You will also meet the Hospital Aides who assist with bed making, meals and stocking up on linen and other general housekeeping. We have a Receptionist/Ward Clerk who works Monday to Thursday and will welcome you to the unit and help with any administrative requirements. The Charge Midwife Manager is available two days a week, her role is to ensure that a high quality of service is maintained. VISITORS We welcome you to share this special time with your family/whanau and friends. However, if you are feeling too tired for visitors, we have signs that can be put on your door asking visitors to see the midwife before entering into your room. Visitors can wait in our spacious, comfortable lounge until you and your baby are ready for them. LOUNGE The lounge, with a TV, is at the end of the unit for anyone to use.
There is a telephone room next to the shower area that is available for anyone to make local calls. The unit has a mobile telephone that staff can bring to you if relatives or friends call the unit. |
