The vision of the Clinical skills unit is to establish the Unit as a national leader in clinical skills training and simulation. The development of an enthusiastic and motivated steering group to support this vision and assist the Unit with both its short and longer term objectives is of major importance.

Clinical skills bridges the gap between theoretical knowledge and clinical practice in a protected learning environment for both under graduate and post graduate training as well as ongoing professional development. Using hands on simulation supports teams and individuals to develop a level of preparation and insight that is best learned and practiced in a realistic environment that can then be readily translated into clinical practice to improve communication, collaboration, teamwork and crisis management (Centre for medical education 2012).
