Admatha Resthome Update
This is an update on the media release that was made
yesterday (11 April 2005) regarding the decision of the CDHB to terminate
Admatha resthome’s contract.
This statement is made by the General Manager Planning & Funding Dr Karleen
Edwards.
‘The CDHB issued the termination notice to Admatha resthome yesterday following
a financial investigation conducted by HealthPac (the payment office of the
Ministry of Health.)
The investigation exposed multiple serious financial irregularities to the
extent that the DHB had no option but to issue the termination notice.
We have now started the legal process which means that we are unable to comment
further on the financial status of the resthome.
Our efforts are currently concentrated on finding appropriate accommodation for
the 29 affected residents. We are working with a specialist team to assess their
immediate needs and to ensure that the best available accommodation is found for
them as quickly as possible.
There are sufficient beds in the city within good quality facilities to
accommodate everyone affected by this situation. We are anxious to minimise
disruption to the residents.’
The termination notice has been issued with effect from Monday 18 April 2005.
Ends.
