Canterbury District Health Board Election 2007

The next Canterbury District Health Board (CDHB) elections will be held in October 2007, in conjunction with the local authority elections. The CDHB consists of up to 11 members, with seven elected by the public every three years and up to four appointed by the Minister of Health.

The board has all powers necessary for the governance and management of the CDHB. However, the board must delegate to the CDHB’s Chief Executive the power to make decisions on management matters relating to the DHB. The board’s role is therefore one of stewardship, direction-setting and monitoring the DHB’s overall performance against its goals.
