Scott graduated with a BSc in Biochemistry from Massey University and an MSc (Hons) in Molecular Biology from Auckland University. He worked as a research technician at Auckland Medical School before traveling overseas extensively. This included working as a research technician at the Institute of Child Health, Great Ormond Street Hospital, London. Scott then returned to NZ to begin his medical training at Auckland Medical School. Interspersed with his medical training he completed a PhD in Molecular Medicine. Upon gaining his medical registration Scott worked at Auckland Hospital, before taking up a post-doctorial research fellowship at Auckland Medical School. Scott joined CHLabs in February 2007 to begin his RCPA registrar training in Molecular Pathology.
