Jane graduated BSc Hons from Otago University and then in 1976 gained a PhD from the University of London, under the supervision of Prof. Peter Sonksen. Early work on insulin action progressed to research predominantly on the hypothalamic pituitary adrenal axis as a member of Prof. Rick Donald's team at Princess Margaret Hospital then later at the Christchurch Hospital site. Jane is currently a part-time (0.5FTE) Scientific Officer in Endolab supervising and developing hormone immunoassays, with interests in assay interferences and quality assurance and involved in clinical endocrine research projects.
