Howard has worked for CDHB in various positions since 1974, taking up his current position as Scientific Officer in Molecular Pathology in July 1992. He became a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Medical Laboratory Science in 1983, and completed his MSc at the University of Canterbury in 1994. He is also a member of the Human Genectics Society of Australasia.
