Grant has worked at Christchurch Hospital since 1984, and in Toxicology since 1987. During that time he has sat and passed Certificate and Specialist examinations in Biochemistry. He has been involved in both routine analyses and method development. The laboratory has been expanded to do environmental analyses and workplace drug testing while continuing to provide analyses for new drug therapies.
