Kevin began working for the CDHB in 1965 as a trainee medical laboratory technologist in the Pathology Department Christchurch Hospital qualifying in 1970 with a certificate level in Microbiology and Histology. A further Specialist level qualification in Histology was gained in 1971. Kevin was employed in the Histology Laboratory from this time until 1974 when he moved up to The Princess Margaret Hospital as Technologist In Charge of the Histology Laboratory and 2IC of the Pathology Laboratories located at this site and was in this role for 7 years. Eventually it was decided to relocate all the laboratories back to Canterbury Health Laboratories. During his working career has has also been an examiner and moderator for the QTA Examinations in Histology, part time tutor in Histology at the Christchurch Polytec and an IANZ auditor.
