How do I get a referral to be seen at the PMC?

The Pain Management Centre (PMC) is a tertiary referral centre for the South Island. We receive referrals from General Practitioners, Specialists (both hospital and private) and Case Managers. All referrals are reviewed by an interdisciplinary team who assess the appropriateness of the referral and establish a priority rating. The person referring you will receive an acknowledgment letter and an estimate of waiting time.

If you think you might benefit from our services please talk to your GP about a referral. Approximately 2 to 4 weeks before your appointment you will receive an appointment letter notifying you of the date and time. You will need to call us to confirm this.
