Ashburton & Rural Health Services provides a range of health services available to the local Ashburton Community and wider Canterbury region, New Zealand. The eight hospitals from which the services are based are located across Canterbury, with Ashburton being the largest and central point for the other smaller hospitals. Ashburton is situated centrally in the Canterbury Province which is ideal for travelling from other parts of the region. Staff who provide the services have access to many local recreational activities with the cities of Christchurch and Timaru just an hour away. People from throughout Canterbury are encouraged to utilise the Ashburton based services available including both Inpatient and Outpatient. Travelling to Ashburton for services such as X-ray, Outpatient consultations, Laboratory, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Therapy, may be a better option for many. There are few delays in getting appointments to these and other services and parking is not a problem. General Surgery and Gynaecology are available for referred Day Surgical Procedures.
