CHRISTCHURCH HOSPITAL
Car Parking
The Christchurch City Council has announced they are reintroducing parking charges from Monday July 4 in areas outside the red zone reintroduced parking charges in areas outside the Red Zone. This will include on site Pay & Display and the monitoring of time restricted parking bays (P5, P10, P90, P120 etc) and mobility bays.
Parking is available for patients and visitors to the rear of the Horticultural Centre. This car park is open from 08:30 to 18:30 Monday to Friday.
We are able to offer limited patient parking concessions. You may meet
the criteria if you have been an inpatient for fourteen days or longer, or
had two admissions within one month or six within the previous twelve.
Please ask on the Ward to see if you do meet the criteria.
We have no information of when the building may reopen at this stage so
please allow extra time for your journey to allow for parking.
We have been made aware that a number of private providers are asking potential users to sign lease agreements or contracts for a set period of time. We understand that for staff who would normally have access to the Staff Car Park this could pose a problem when staff charging recommences. We would like to reassure staff that on production of a signed agreement we will honour their staff parking arrangements at no charge until such time a private agreement ceases.
The staff car park building is now fully operational and charges have recommenced.
We have use of part of the Brewery Car Park and the Stewart Street
entrance gates are open. A red car park sticker must be displayed. We
will tow any car from this area that we cannot identify as belonging to an
authorised user of this parking area.
Please refrain from parking in these bays unless you are authorised to do so. We are working to get CDHB cars and Duty Staff into allocated parking – and the car park bay may have been allocated to others temporarily. Unless you have been authorised by Support Services to use a reserved space please refrain from parking somewhere you may get towed from.
A great number of staff have also reverted to cycling to work and using the buses, we have been looking for more places to locate bike racks and actively encourage those that can to consider an alternative way of getting to work. Motorbike parking has been made available outside ED by the traffic lights and is signposted. This area should not be used for bicycles; please use the compounds and/or racks available around the sites. Please do not bring bikes into the hospital buildings under any circumstances. If you are unable to locate a vacant bike stand please contact security for assistance.
There are a number of buses that
travel to and from Christchurch Hospital. Visit
